For the past few years, we’ve been on a high-flying mission with a Government Aviation Body —bringing decades of history into the digital era. Because let’s face it, negatives don’t last forever, but the stories they capture are too important to be left in the dark!
This project took off with an initial pilot and proof of concept, using some of the Government Aviation’s highest-value materials as a test flight. Once we proved the concept could soar, the real mission began….
Digitising 11 tranches of material, covering approximately 50,000 individual negatives.
Using our state-of-the-art digitisation process, every single image was carefully captured and processed to meet the National Archives of Australia Standard.
The result?
A fully accessible and future-proof collection of Aviation history that can be utilised for research, exhibitions, and internal documentation.
From the earliest test flights to cutting-edge aircraft, these negatives capture the evolution of aviation and the stories of those who made it possible. And now, thanks to digitisation, these moments will never be grounded!
Why Negatives Deserve a Second Life!
Imagine finding a treasure chest only to realise the map is fading, that’s what happens when negatives sit forgotten. These fragile time capsules risk deterioration, chemical breakdown, or a coffee spill. Without digitisation, history vanishes in the darkroom. But once scanned, these ghostly strips become high-res, accessible records – preserved, protected, and ready to be shared.
After all, what’s the point of history if it’s buried in a drawer, waiting to be forgotten?
