Noosa Shire Council has a rich and unique history, home to many buildings, sites and material, which are important aspects to any local community.
Noosa Shire Council’s historical knowledge is contained within archival collections, which include a great wealth of untapped material. The council was looking to implement an online platform to provide a single point of public access for its digital heritage collections. The platform needed to have the capability to manage digital assets, make digital assets content accessible, and discoverable to the general public through effective use of metadata, display heritage content in a contemporary online format, and invite community engagement through mediated contribution of information and content.
Recollect aligns perfectly with Noosa Shire Council’s requirements, leveraging the power of Recollect to drive digital transformation, preservation and engagement.
Noosa Shire Council together with the DatacomIT Recollect Implementation team created ‘Heritage Noosa’, an online collection of images, videos, interviews, documents, maps, and memorabilia held in the collections of the Noosa Library Service Heritage Library and other local heritage organisations. The site provides easy online access to a rich store of heritage material relating to the Noosa Shire region, its people, places and events, past and present.
Recollect is a great way to share stories and items. Two of our favourite stories are from the digital stories of oral history interviews. It’s worth watching.
