Community contributions to public libraries local studies collections has become a core feature of developing community engagement in local history and cultural heritage. Libraries increasingly recognise the value of involving the public in creating and preserving local history, and the Recollect collection management solution plays a pivotal role in streamlining and enhancing this process.
Gillian Allen will discuss the role of community contributions in the new Ryde History Hub Recollect site, and how they have engaged the local community to become actively involved in developing the collection. Gillian will also discuss the development of Ryde History Hub and how it has become a focal point for local studies.
Recollect offers powerful community engagement features that allow the community to easily contribute their personal stories, photographs, documents, and other historical materials. By integrating features such as user-generated content submissions, tagging, and interactive metadata fields, Recollect makes it simple for community members to engage directly with their local history projects. This creates a sense of ownership and pride among residents while also enriching library collections with a wider range of perspectives.
